The following is a list of questions you should ask any agency you are considering hiring as suggested by the Department of Aging. Please use these questions to help you find the right agency for your family. We have answered the questions to start your comparison.
Are you licensed? Insured?
Yes, we are licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, and carry insurance per their regulations.
How do you screen your employees? Do you have an orientation process? Do you take out employment taxes?
Employees of Stonehouse are subjected to rigorous background investigations, sex offender and references, and license (if applicable) checks. We provide both general and specific orientation and file all the appropriate taxes for our employees.
Do you have a process in place for complaints?
We have a clients rights & responsibilities and grievance policies which are given to all clients upon admission.
What hours can you provide services? What happens after office hours?
We provide services to our clients 24/7. After office hours calls are forwarded to the on-call supervisor.
What is your admission process? (Who conducts assessment, can I meet you in the office before I decide to hire your agency)
Before the initiation of services, a Nursing Supervisor will make a home visit to your parents home. This assessement will not only review the client’s mental and physical capability, an assessment of the home will also be made to ascertain the safety of the home. (area rugs which could cause a fall, loose handrails, etc.). Once a plan of care is written and agreed to, the coordination of staff begins. It is sometimes advisable for you to meet with us in our offices to discuss the particulars of your (case) before we go to your parents home.
How do you monitor the condition of my parent?
Reassessments are done on as needed basis, however, no later than 60 days.
What is your invoice/payment policy? Who do I pay?
Invoices are sent by Stonehouse weekly, due upon receipt. You may pay your invoice by sending a check, credit card or money order.
